Welcome To Silk Opera
Silk Opera is a fresh, dynamic opera company created to bring quality entertainment to the North West of England. The aim is to provide a wide audience with a chance to enjoy stylish productions performed by outstanding soloists and musicians, sometimes in unique and unusual venues. The Company will also provide a great opportunity for rising stars and members of the local community to work alongside seasoned professionals, both on and off stage, and it is hoped that the company will become a valued and valuable part of Macclesfield’s cultural life.
The launch of Silk Opera coincides with plans to build a state-of-the-art theatre in the centre of Macclesfield as part of the Town Centre Economic Regeneration Plan. http://www.cocoontheatre.com/
The driving force is the Company’s Music Director, Nicholas Smith. His distinguished career in this country, Finland and the United States has produced huge and sustained increases in audiences, and an uncompromising standard in performance. The ultimate aim is to provide year-round performances in a series of venues, reaching a wide audience and offering meaningful employment to singers and instrumentalists, technicians and support staff. To achieve all this we need energy, belief, dedication, talent, and money. You can help us. By all means audition, but if singing isn’t your thing then you can help financially.
